Ephesians 5:18-19 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;Godly music is to be melodious, appealing to the spirit of man, whereas other forms of music with the jungle beat are merely an appeal to the flesh. To worship God properly the flesh must be subdued not enlivened, and the best way to do this is with music that has subdued all appeals to the flesh, and yet has plenty of appeal to the spirit. Things like drums are not fit for Christian music any more than Christian music is fit for a tavern, each is too contrary to the other and not conducive to the desired purpose of the particular venues. Some of my favorite hymns are on the sidebar (many thanks to the folks at Cyberhymnal -New site name: Hymntime for the midi tunes), for thousands more please check out their site.
